Frank X. Tolbert2 Meditations on Mortality
Texas artist Frank X. Tolbert2 has had a more than 30 year career as an artist, becoming most well-known for basing his art on the "absurdities of life on Earth" as he calls it and using crude depictions of bizarre subjects in his partially autobiographical works.
In 2005, however, Tolbert began a candid and open exploration of his own history and state of being. The result is Frank X. Tolbert2 Meditations on Mortality, an exhibition of 16 life-size portraits of the artist's friends and family and one self-portrait, which will be on view at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) from April 19 through July 13.
