Education Department

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas understands the importance of education and organizes a variety of programs tailored to teaching children in creative ways. Every year, AMSET’s educational outreach programs reach thousands of children and adults. Programs such as Art-To-Go, Free Family Arts Day, and Art After School provide Southeast Texans with free access to educational art and free admission to their museum.

Check out AMSET’s educational programs below.

For more information, call (409) 832-3432 or email the education department.

Education programs include:

Art After School is a multi-visit after school program available to all fourth-grade students in selected schools. Students come to AMSET for a series of intensive art experiences.

Art-To-Go is AMSET’s primary outreach program. This mobile program brings art education and hands-on art experience into classrooms, libraries, senior centers and neighborhood centers across our region.

All Summer ArtVentures camps are taught by professional artists and art educators. Summer ArtVentures camps give participants a chance to work with professional, messy, icky sticky mediums to create works of art that they never thought possible. It’s about learning and fun!

Family Arts Days are major events held quarterly and include art activities that are inspired by AMSET’s four major exhibitions each year.

C-Space Computer Lab

C-Space houses iPads loaded with child-friendly art education and simulated art-making applications. The service is free of charge, and is offered during regular AMSET hours.

Protégé High School Art Competition and Exhibition is organized annually to promote and inspire 12th-grade artists in our region for the past three decades.

From October through May, eighth-grade students from Odom Academy in Beaumont, Texas visit AMSET monthly and gain valuable museum guide experience along the way.
